Under the tree this year, I found a pair of ships for the X-Wing miniatures game, courtesy of my wife. Representing the Dark Side was Darth Vader's TIE fighter (officially the TIE Advanced). On the Rebels' side, the HWK-290 (a.k.a. the Mouldy Crow, originally appearing in a computer game).
I was expecting the Empire ship, since I saw that when my wife and I were Christmas shopping. She noticed me eyeing the toy, and asked if I wanted it as a holiday present. I said yes, realizing that she would insist on wrapping it and not actually give it to me until Christmas, which I was fine with. The other mini, however, came as a surprise.
My spouse told me she was at Barnes & Noble and noticed a shelf full of various X-Wing expansions. She didn't want to buy me a duplicate of something in my collection, so she checked this blog to make sure she bought me something I didn't already own! Very clever and thoughtful gift selection from my wife.
These were the only gaming gifts I received this year, and I can't wait to try them out on the gaming table. Did anyone else received wargaming or roleplaying loot this Christmas?

That's a wife going above and beyond! My family sent me some GW Lord of the Rings figures from the USA that are no longer available in the UK, which was pretty cool.

The Mouldy Crow isn't bad! The starfighters are too big for my scale preferences, but that one might be a future purchase, when the price drops way way down.
No gifts for me, but my artist friend was kind enough to paint up three of my Reaper Bones minis - a hellhound, a marilith/tanar'ri, and Lolth. Not bad at all for her first non-flat paintings.
On top of that, I hit the generous sales at the FLGS this morning after work and got three of the excellent dwarven heroes from Kings of War at half price, and a very old (copyright on back is 1997!) blister of Epic WH40K Marauder Bombers, which will be repurposed as light torpedo cruisers.
Not specifically gaming or RPG related. I scored a bunch of small to medium LEGO sets, which might see tabletop action on both counts eventually. I did get a cool Thor t-shirt (just a Kirby-style Mjolnir) and my non-gaming brother-in-law gave me a 25ish year old Ral Partha frost giant still in the package he found at a flea market and knew I "painted toy figurines". It's the thought that counts!
Only gaming presents I got were 5 packs of Ground Zero Games Tomorrow's War U.S. Army Special Forces in Hardsuits. What was the real surprise was that my wife got them for me (she can't stand my hobby)
Ah! Flashbacks to Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy!
I love those games. I still haven't played a lightsaber fighting game that I like better.
I bought myself something:
http://48orcs.blogspot.com/2013/12/cold-be-heart-and-hand-and-bone.html
Old Glory Egyptians, Sherdans, Nubians, Napoleonic British Infantry and Foot Artillery, Foundry Napoleonic British guns, Perry Napoleonic Prussian Uhlans and Hussars, and an Austrian cavalry battery! :-)
I cheat - by arrangement with my family I buy stuff and put it away when it isn't something I plan to painting or using in the next few months. Those items are then in the "bank" for future gift giving opportunities. Perhaps a bit mercenary, LOL, but it keeps the lead flowing steadily, I get few to no useless gifts, and I never get complaints about how much a spend on the hobby. :-)
"We must catalog our wealth, and prepare it for shipment!"
...Upon assembly, it is clear the Epic 40K marauder bombers will not pass as anything but small craft. Looks like they'll go to a dogfight system then.
Collin, in what game were you initially planning to use those Epic 40K bombers? And what will you use them for now?
The initial system was a homebrew fleet scale ruleset of mixed settings. Now I'll use perhaps Full Thrust, Moondragon, or Silent Death. They'd also do well in a large scale sci-fi mixed forces ground combat game I'm working on.
The 5150 games have caught my eye, of course, but those purchases haven't been made just yet. :)
Let me suggest 5150: Star Navy. The rules are simple, elegant, and fast, and you can use any minis you happen to have.
Also, if you have any questions about the game, I know the authors ;-)
Got a box of the new GW Mirkwood Rangers with Captains and a Thranduil to go with my Lord of the Rings SBG army. Also, put in for some of the Reaper Kickstarter figs which will deliver in time for Xmas 2014.
