We did a little World War I aircraft gaming this month, playing Wings of War. My wingman and I flew German planes, against our opponents' British and French aircraft.
Gameplay is a little like X-Wing, with simultaneous movement from templates--but you pick three moves at a time, and shooting is resolved by card draw (everything from no damage to pilot wounded to kaboom). It was a good time, even though I got kaboomed.
I've got a bunch of the planes but never played the game, using the for All Quiet On The Martian Front :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Wings of War/Glory. I have heavily jumped into WWI, with a decent number of WWII and Sails of Glory miniatures too. And Tripods & Triplanes. Last fall some friends fell down the rabbit hole too and now we try to get together every month or so for dogfighting galore. So much fun.
ReplyDeleteI think Fantasy Flight bought the Wings of War license just so they could take the mechanics. Glad its back as Wings of Glory.
